Background

The Swiss love their country. This is why they always prefer shopping on a Swiss online marketplace to an international one. The two Swiss companies Swisscom and Coop took advantage of this fact when they joined forces to create siroop, a corporate venture startup.

Our task

It was our job to develop a marketplace in four months while siroop was still in its very early development phase.

The solution

We laid the foundation in our Kreuzberg offices, gave the project a real boost and made it possible for siroop to evolve into its own successful marketplace.

During the incubation phase, we brought in four siroop employees and integrated them into our structures to teach them how we work. This made us temporary colleagues and allowed us to share visions, knowledge, and space. It also laid a foundation for recruitment so that we were able to teach new employees how to work with the Spryker Commerce OS from the very start.

As a result, our team ran a tight ship and succeeded in going live with the first version of the marketplace within just four months. At the same time, the first siroop employees were able to relocate to Zurich with their newly acquired skills.

After ten months, the knowledge transfer was complete, and we were able to fall back and serve in an advisory capacity once again, handing over our parts of the project to siroop. Today, the marketplace employs more than 200 people and offers its customers more than 1,000,000 products.

Developing a marketplace in four months is a challenge. But Turbine Kreuzberg took it on, with solution orientation and agility, which ultimately contributed to its success.
