HORNBACH AND TURBINE KREUZBERG LAUNCH SPRYKER IN LUXEMBOURG AND FOR BODENHAUS

November 24, 2021

  • Successful launch of Spryker-based online shop in Luxembourg
  • Digital platform for newly opened Bodenhaus stores rolled out in the first half of 2021

Berlin. The technology agency Turbine Kreuzberg is taking important steps in its joint commerce project with HORNBACH Baumarkt AG. In July 2021, HORNBACH's new online shop based on Spryker Commerce OS was launched in the Luxembourg market and has since been in successful live operation. In the first half of the year, an online shop for the new Bodenhaus brand had already been gradually rolled out in Germany. With Bodenhaus, HORNBACH is introducing a new specialist retail concept to the market, especially for wood flooring, laminate, vinyl, tiles and patio coverings.

The HORNBACH shop in Luxembourg and the Bodenhaus brand use a joint digital sales infrastructure. This is based on Spryker Commerce OS. By using Spryker, the project partners HORNBACH and Turbine Kreuzberg expect to gain flexibility and speed in advancing the DIY champion's IT landscape. The latter is to be achieved primarily through more agile processes in providing new software and updates.

"We knew even before the project started that we could expect a strong entrepreneurial vision and a high level of technological ambition in our cooperation with HORNBACH. The launches in the past few months have confirmed this. Our team can't wait to continue proving their Spryker experience in the coming development steps," says Christopher Möhle, COO of Turbine Kreuzberg.

"The launch of the shop in Luxembourg and for Bodenhaus in Germany shows that our assessment of Turbine Kreuzberg was correct. With its high level of expertise, the team is not only a strong support for our colleagues in dealing with Spryker, but also provides us with significant backing in expanding our IT infrastructure," says Andreas Wüst, Head of Customer Technology at HORNBACH.

Spryker not only provides HORNBACH with a solid technological foundation in online retail, but also enables it to expand its digital service offerings more strongly and develop new business models in a short space of time. The best example of this is Bodenhaus: parallel to the physical store openings in Berlin-Schönweide and Cologne-Poll, the online shop already launched with useful services such as reservation of desired products in the store.

Turbine Kreuzberg began its cooperation with HORNBACH in the third quarter of 2020. Initially, the focus was on an enabling service: the agency supported the HORNBACH project team in building up competence with Spryker. In the meantime, the developers from Turbine Kreuzberg and HORNBACH are working side by side in a joint project team on the implementation of Spryker.

The agency team is also optimising the development workflow and the CI/CD pipeline, including Spryker application testing and quality assurance tooling. Turbine Kreuzberg ensures smooth platform operation with 24-hour support for the application and infrastructure.

The technology agency has delivered fourteen Spryker-based projects since 2015. This makes Turbine Kreuzberg one of the world's most experienced agencies in dealing with Spryker Commerce OS.
