Press Release

  • Coding & Beyond: Inspiring the Future of Development
  • Programme with 12 talks, 2 panels and a coding challenge
  • Event takes place in Berlin and Faro (Portugal) at the same time

Berlin, 14 May 2019 - The sixth annual developer conference Dev Day 2019 will take place on 25 May 2019. Under the motto "Coding & Beyond: Inspiring the Future of Development", developers will be able to exchange information on the latest trends and developments in the industry in specialist presentations and panel discussions. The event, which will be held simultaneously in Berlin and Faro (Portugal) and broadcast via livestream, is hosted by the Berlin-based digital agency Turbine Kreuzberg.

Future questions of Software Development
The event focuses on the question of what software development will look like in the future. Will machines take over programming work? Which programming languages should one learn today to be prepared for tomorrow? Which technologies will establish themselves in the long term? Very concrete answers to these questions are provided by presentations from developers and one of two panel discussions. On the Main Stage in Berlin, well-known experts in the developer scene will be discussing - including Charles Cunningham from Jolocom, Friedger Müffke from Blockstack and Stefan Adolf from Turbine Kreuzberg (more information below).

Interactive content with practical insights
During a total of twelve talks, developers share their knowledge with the participants. The talks cover topics such as machine learning, decentralized apps, audio production with Unity and time series data analysis. In addition, there will be an interactive coding challenge in cooperation with the Idea-to-Cloud Application Platform Platform.sh. "It is important to us that all the content of the event has an application reference," explains Stefan Adolf, Developer Ambassador at Turbine Kreuzberg. "Therefore, all speakers are encouraged to include demos or live coding sessions in their presentations".

Exchange of knowledge and networking beyond the classic corporate event
Dev Day was launched in 2014 at the Turbine Kreuzberg site in Faro (Portugal). Since then it has been held annually - this year for the second time simultaneously in Berlin. In addition to imparting knowledge, it serves in particular to promote networking and the exchange of experience at eye level. The event is open to all participants. "Dev Day is intended to be a conference of developers for developers," explains Adolf. "The developer community is characterized by learning from each other and informal exchange. The aim of Dev Day is to provide a platform where developers of all backgrounds and expertise and of all ages can exchange ideas and learn from each other on an equal footing.

Are distributed databases and cloud-based services the best way to scale projects and what are the tradeoffs? Together with our speakers and sponsors we will try to find answers to these and other questions at the Dev Day Main Stage.
