HORNBACH und Turbine Kreuzberg complete Europe-wide re-platforming project

January 29, 2024

The DIY retailer’s digital sales structure was placed on a new platform across nine European countries. Turbine Kreuzberg and HORNBACH will continue their strategic partnership.

Berlin. The technological collaboration between Turbine Kreuzberg and HORNBACH has reached another important milestone: the partners have completed their joint re-platforming project with the rollout of a new, Europe-wide digital sales infrastructure. The project focused on restructuring HORNBACH's e-commerce architecture, successively replacing the existing SAP Hybris-based solution with the modular Spryker Commerce OS system. The smooth implementation of the new solution was recently completed in the core market of Germany within three days, following the rollout in eight other European markets (Luxembourg, Romania, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Sweden, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Austria). Furthermore, the specialized retail brand Bodenhaus, which was launched in 2021, also relies on the same infrastructure.

Turbine Kreuzberg has been providing HORNBACH with its technological expertise since 2020. The aim is to support the DIY chain in the continuous expansion of its digital sales infrastructure and to provide the technological basis for the further development of its business models.

– Alexander Janthur, Founder and Owner of Turbine Kreuzberg

For us, HORNBACH's architecture is a prime example of how a company can set itself up for the future with a flexible and efficient IT landscape," says Alexander Janthur, founder and owner of Turbine Kreuzberg. "Thanks to this modular architecture, HORNBACH has laid the foundation for being able to react quickly to current and future market requirements. It also accelerates the further development of its business models by providing the right technological foundation. It's a testament to this that HORNBACH was able to so quickly launch the new Bodenhaus brand, whose online store is based on the newly built architecture.
